Atrial Septa1 Puncture Technique in Percutaneous Transvenous Mitral Commissurotomy
نویسنده
چکیده
Transseptal catheterization is a vital component of percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy. Therefore, a well-executed transseptal catheterization is the key to a safe and successful percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy. Two major problems inherent in atrial septel puncture for percutaneous transvenous mitral cornmissurotomy are cardiac perforation and puncture of an inappropriate atrial septel site. The former may lead to serious complication of cardiac tamponade and the latter to possible difficulty in maneuvering the lnoue balloon catheter across the mitral orifice. This article details atrial septal puncture technique, including landmark selection for optimal septal puncture sites, avoidance of inappropriate puncture sites, and step-bystep description of atrial septal puncture.

The Association between B-type Natriuretic Peptide Family and Successful Percutaneous Transvenous Mitral Commissurotomy: A Systematic Review
B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) level is known to increase in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis. In this systematic review, we aimed to discuss the possible association between plasma BNP level and the success rate of percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy. PubMed and Scopus databases were searched systematically, using the following key terms: “B-type natriuretic peptide” OR “BN...

OBJECTIVE To determine the efficacy and safety of percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy (PTMC), using multi-track double balloon technique in juvenile mitral stenosis. DESIGN Open non-randomised intervention. SETTING Cardiac catheterisation laboratories of The Mater Hospital, The Nairobi Hospital and Kenyatta National Hospital from 1996 to 2001. متن کاملBalloon mitral commissurotomy for mitral stenosis after resolution of a large mobile left atrial thrombus by 2-year warfarin treatment.
We report on a patient who was referred for percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy for symptomatic mitral stenosis. However, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography both revealed a large mobile left atrial thrombus, occupying almost half of the left atrial body. Because the patient strongly declined surgical mitral treatment, he was administered warfarin for 2 years. Complete...
متن کاملComparisons of mechanical versus phase-array intracardiac echocardiography-assisted transseptal puncture in patients with dilated left atrium undergoing percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy.
BACKGROUND Percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy (PTMC) is an effective treatment for mitral stenosis, but transseptal puncture carries a certain risk of complications. Our previous report has shown the effectiveness of phase-array intracardiac echocardiography (ICE)-guided transseptal puncture in patients with dilated left atrium undergoing PTMC. However, there are few reports compari...
متن کاملMitral Flow Dynamics During Exercise After Percutaneous Transvenous Mitral Commissurotomy Noninvasive Evaluation Using Continuous Wave Doppler Technique
Evaluation of mitral flow dynamics during exercise is critically important in patients who receive percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy (PTMC) because limited mitral flow during exercise provokes hemodynamic deterioration and involves cardiogenic symptoms in patients with mitral stenosis. To examine mitral flow dynamics during exercise, we applied continuous wave Doppler technique in ...
